Lets take a trip down memory lane…
It was just a year ago that I began building a sectional for our new place. I was excited that we had this huge lanai for hosting all the friends we’d make, and more importantly, the sectional would be in the family forever, coming with us whenever/wherever we moved.
It was about $800 in material, but the inspiration can from a $10,000 contemporary modern sectional, so that $9,200 “savings” made the 3 months of hard work all worth it. At least in my mind.
Now let’s fast forward a year later when we are dragging the 500 pound contraption out of our lanai and loading it onto some lady’s Ford Ranger for $100. I’ve said all that to show you just how enthusiastic I was NOT to be re-furbishing a 3-piece marine sectional seating bench for the Flybridge just a year later.
This sectional took almost 3 months to complete (from Airbnb hosting to the rebirth). It was about the same cost of material as our previous project, plus it required crazy cuts, numerous wood treatments, testy L-brackets, and a handful of trip to Lowes and Home Depot.
Not to mention I did all this work knowing we’d have even fewer friends sitting on the sectional, since one of our two local friends (Bobby & Christina) gets sea sick just stepping on the dock… And oh by the way, this wasn’t even one of our “planned” renovation projects for the boat, but it was the first one we tackled and a glimpse into what was to come on D Day.
